2)Support from outside/Lost most family connections due to lack of transportation/DOC should reinstitute old policy of allowing banquets and picnics even in Max prison where needed most
3)support growing up: I’ve seen each generation become worse due to lack of role models due to mass incarceration. The blind now lead the blond. Solution is to connect older prisoners with younger in official capacities to teach
4) Support inside prison:  in old days yes, now, die to taking of prisoners funds, it has created a dog eat dog environment
5)for mentally ill (diagnosis and treatment)Diagnosis of PTSD by veterans administration and DOC. Was classified MH2 now changes to None. I self medicated and placed in seg numerous times for long periods. There are no treatment programs for PTSD and no consideration.
6)received personal therapy sessions in 2004-5 however was not experienced with vets and their problems in prison. Talked of what occurred  in combat in Viet Nam but they were totally clueless on how that affected mental stability and life in prison environment. The delusional states, Depression and most of all the nightmares ad uncontrolled temper die to stress.
7)For mentally ill- treatment before prison/I received in patient treatment at tomah VA Hospital. But was discharged and while awaiting disability was homeless and had no funds. This resulted in my committing the armed robberies.
8) Currently in seg for poss. of intoxicants ,i.e. “hooch”, 19 days on TLU then 30 days seg sentence. Conditions better that in past. However no consideration given to reason of possession , as self medication is a must if one wants to remain balanced and sane after 28 straight years of incarceration.
9)General health care- medical staff use co-pay as deterrent in seeking psychological and medical care. They use laymen to sit on special needs committee and decide medical needs of prisoners
10) training while in prison- there is severe lack of vocational training. I have received none in 28 years die to “time structure ”but at 61 years of age, what could I do.? Have become proficient at law and google, research and politics, science , economics, business,
Use best practices of other countries, such as Canada, Sweden and other advanced civilized western nations.
11)Release: Parole is nothing more than a means to keep revolving door moving as rules not related to cause for incarceration and how most prisoners are saddled with lifetime of debt. What were(will you be) given on release:ID yes/ housing- VA hospital/phone access no/clothes no/voucher for thrift shops no/buspass no/money no/transport by agent Yes/ other stupid rules/
12) specific issues overcrowding and lack of staff-personal experience
Staff who are forced to work overtime on long shifts are irritable and write many petty conduct reports and causes prisoners to react in negative manner . then on inmate record, it looks to be his fault.
Prisoners need more access to outside role models  from  music industry and academics.

    1) Robert Lietsch is 28 years old , white male. He came to prison in 2008.   His public defender   expressed concerns with his mental health at his sentencing and worries that he would be in and out because of revocations and since that time has had   two revocations . Todd Hiivala 363687 GBCI , PO Box 19033 Green Bay, WI 54307  Inmates forced to choose between recreation and their prison jobs Greetings to all at Community, along with appreciation for the time, hard work and continued advocacy on behalf of those of us housed at this and other Wisconsin correctional institutions. Below find letters I mailed to the DOC Secretary, DAI Administrator and Security Chief in Madison, informing them of GBCI officials' most recent action in forcing those with jobs or in school to relinquish up to half of their constitutionally protected right to recreation. This blatant act of retaliation against 1,100 inmates for the despicable action of a single inmate who assaulted a staff member with hot water is unprecedented. As I pointed out to DCC officials, I've done over a quarter century in a dozen prisons across three states and have never witnessed anything--any assault on the fundamental rights of inmates--as flagrant as this!                     Assaults and Staff Cover-Ups Escalate at Waupun Correctional Institution Waupun, WI – According to recent letters from prisoner contacts, employees of Waupun Correctional Institution are coordinating attacks including extortion and sexual assaults against targeted prisoners. “I been told by three different inmates the last couple of days that staves [staff] are recruiting inmates to give me a good beating before I leave Waupun; if so I will most likely die... since [my] heart is in real bad shape so I thought I had better tell you so if something dire happens to me” prisoner Jim T Smith wrote to outside supporters last Sunday.
